What is Blockchain?
A blockchain is a ledger-like recording system where each record is a block. Blocks are linked together in a list next to each other.
Since blockchains use cryptography, they are secure and resistant to modifications. The blockchain is kept over a network of computers; typically spread throughout the world.
Blockchains can be public or private. Public blockchains are decentralized rather than centralized like traditional banks. Consequently, public blockchains like those supporting cryptocurrencies have no central authority.
